Electrical Upgrade With An Inspection And Installation
This project was initially set out to be a simple electrical installation, as our client required a new electric hob to be installed at their home, however, it quickly became clear that additional work was needed.
Once we arrived at the site, we discovered that the electrical system had not been inspected or maintained for around 40 years. This was particularly alarming, as privately owned homes should be inspected every 10 years to ensure that all electrical systems, wires and appliances are still compliant and efficient. This home was severely outdated in terms of Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR) documentation, which could have put the homeowners at risk.
Luckily, SCV Electrical are fully certified and experienced in EICRs, electrical maintenance and testing, which allowed us to deliver the necessary assessment ahead of the planned installation.
EICR And Electrical Testing
Our domestic electricians carried out an EICR on the property’s electrical systems and wiring to determine whether there were any hidden or potentially dangerous issues present. As the home has not been inspected in around four decades, we were concerned about the efficiency of the electrical systems and how safe they were for modern requirements.
During the inspection, we uncovered some issues which were able to be repaired or upgraded by our team. This included a partial rewire, as some circuits had been damaged from rising damp across the home, installation of bonding conductors to ensure greater efficiency, as well as an upgrade of the consumer unit. Due to the age of the property, the old fuse box was no longer suitable, and we provided a complete replacement, fitting a modern consumer unit to ensure safer and more efficient electrical power throughout the property.
Many areas of the home needed to be addressed following our EICR, as there were several worn switches, sockets and lighting outlets that were still in use. Our domestic electricians delivered the necessary upgrades and replacements, bringing the home in line with current regulations and ensuring safer, more efficient power for our clients.
